Yes Or No Decisions To Grow On

So much of the self-help literature appears to be educating us tips on how to say “no” to the wrong things so we now have more time to say “sure” to the “proper” issues. That is sensible. What could be more difficult is figuring out the distinction. Sometimes the most illogical alternatives can present essentially the most fascinating experiences. On the floor, there was completely no room in my life for this, however it was an incredible experience. The youngsters and volunteers were unbelievable. I must say, we put on a heck of a present. But then, got here the real “yes” or “no” question. We had performed the show one evening, deconstructed (and thrown away) a lot of the set, and some weeks had gone by after I received a name from my minister. “Would we reprise the show for a church service?” Everyone who is aware of me properly and cares about me had the identical reaction, “say no.” They noticed how the show consumed me the primary time. On the floor it did not make sense, the logistics of pulling this off again, with the children out of shape, many of the volunteers gone, limited set. Something made me say, “sure.” What happe ned next was one of the most magical moments of my year. We discovered sufficient of the set to make it look fun, the kids all stepped up to apply like loopy on their own, they managed themselves backstage with out lots of mother or father volunteers, the congregation was completely packed and the youngsters had a blast and received a standing ovation. As I was standing there after the service, I had tears in my eyes and thought, “I virtually stated, no.” Sometimes saying no can forestall us from stretching ourselves or working past the floor difficulties. I will certainly still say “no” to many issues, but I even have realized the value of thinking properly and deep before I do. Seven years ago I was asked to produce a play for community theatre. I had worked on a few plays doing set construction, sound engineer, selling adverts, and so forth. My first reaction was no. Two weeks later they requested me once more and I stated okay not understanding what I was doing. To date, I’ve produced eight plays and been concerned in another 4 or so.
